METALS IN CONSTRUCTION 2019 DESIGN CHALLENGE. A NEW URBAN PATHWAY IN NEW YORK CITY.
DESCRIPTION: Held by the Metals in Construction magazine, this was a competition for the design of a pedestrian walkway originating at the transportation hub portion of Moynihan Train Hall and terminating in the vicinity of The Shed at Hudson Yards. WAVE, our proposal, was a new 10-span 482 meter long s-shaped in plan pedestrian bridge. With two main longitudinal box girders supporting secondary cross beams, its structure offered a narrow, direct connection to Moynihan Station on 31st Street before “breaking” around the corner on 9th Avenue and “splashing” onto 30th Street with wider paths and lush, open spaces.
